Centre table with alcohol ink

Was tempted to add a dash of colours to the small white centre table using alcohol ink. Few learnings …

  • I always blend the alcohol ink using isopropyl alcohol. While working, my last bottle got over and it was difficult to get a new supply during lockdown. I tried using sanitiser thinking it has 70 per cent alcohol but it was a wrong move. Alcohol ink works best with 90+per cent alcohol concentration.
  • When we are trying to blend the inks, it is better to mix a small portion with the blending solution ( here alcohol with 90 per cent concentration) and then blend it using a heat gun. If we put the ink directly on the surface and then put the blending solution , it will create ink patches on the surface of the painting
  • Don’t try to seal the alcohol ink work by brushing varnish for oil paints or use polishing wax. A sealant spray works better.
